Five Awesome Bible Verses from St. Paul!

Hey guys, it’s Joy! Welcome to my blog. I’m so excited you’re here!

I’m a bit new to all this website stuff, so please bear with me as I figure everything out. I’m not even really sure how to write a blog post, LOL. So I’m thankful – like a-trillion-times-over thankful – if you’re reading this!

I just want to introduce myself and my new blog, and I thought what better way to do that than by starting off with my favorite Bible verses? My novel, The Apostle’s Sister, is all about St. Paul, told through the point of view of his sister. Definitely check out the “My Novel” section on this website if you’d like to learn more about my work-in-progress!

I love the apostle Paul. Besides Jesus, no one has changed my life more or brought me out of tougher times. That’s why I decided to write a novel about him, and why I think it would be totally appropriate to do my very first blog post on my favorite St. Paul sayings! These are in no particular order – it would be too hard to choose – but I WILL say that if I HAD to choose, Romans 5:8 WOULD be my first choice.

The credit for all images goes to Biblia Faithlife Proclaim’s Verse of the Day.

I hope you enjoy! Let’s just get right into this, shall we?

1. Romans 5:8

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8 verse of the day image

2. Romans 8:28

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

3. 1 Corinthians 13:13

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:13 verse of the day image

4. Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through him [Christ] who strengthens me.”

Philippians 4:13 verse of the day image

5. Acts 20:24

“But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”

Acts 20:24 is last but certainly not least. It’s posted right on my BLOG page and is the featured quote from The Apostle’s Sister on the MY NOVEL page!

This was certainly not an exhaustive list. If I wanted to put every St. Paul saying that I love, I would be putting his whole thirteen letters on this page! (Yeah, that would make this post SOOOOOO long!)

I hope you guys were encouraged by these verses! See you next time. Feel free to say hi in the comments! I would love to hear from you.

And don’t forget – eat, pray, write, repeat!

I write Biblical fiction because my greatest desire is to help teens, including myself, to realize Bible figures were people with feelings just like ours. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me either reading, sketching, or trying delicious desserts. I love books, especially Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird and Marjorie Holmes’ Two from Galilee trilogy. I mostly sketch animals, people, and flowers. And as for dessert, I’ll eat literally anything! My mission for my blog is to create a safe place full of faith, fun, and encouragement. I hope you'll come and join the family! And never forget - eat, pray, write, repeat!

  1. Hey Joy!!! I just saw your comment over at Christine’s and thought I’d stop by and check your blog out!
Ohhh, I love all of those verses from Paul! He really is such an inspiration and one of my favorite Bible characters too. I did this study of Romans (I think that was the one) with my mom and sisters recently and when I read that he would go to hell if his friends could go to heaven, I was just so impacted. That makes me want to strive to love my friends and family that much too!
So yeah, I can’t wait for more posts and I’ll definitely be sticking around! (BTW, I love your story! That’s a really cool idea and I hope you share some more of it later!)

    1. Oh my goodness first comment! Thanks so much for checking out my blog!
The whole book of Romans is just so amazing. And yes, that part about the unbelieving Jews always makes tears come to my eyes. It’s amazing that they were the people who scourged him and hunted him down, yet he loved them so much he wished he could take their place in hell if they could take his in heaven. I actually reference that verse in my book, through Paul’s dialogue with his sister. Same!! Preach, girl!
Thank you so much! So glad to have you here. I will definitely be doing Christine’s challenge later on this week.
By the way, you should get a prize for being my first visitor. 🙂

      1. You’re so welcome!!!
I know, right?!?! He’s just one of the coolest Bible characters ever. Oh, that’s awesome! I can’t wait to learn more about it!
Awww, I was actually really surprised to be your first visiter! I’m just glad I found your blog! 😀

        1. I agree one hundred percent! Paul’s story is by far one of the most moving in the Bible.
Yay! The new post is coming out tomorrow, and I’ll be talking A LOT about my novel then!

  2. First, let me just say this: WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE GOING TO GET A BLOG?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girl, now I’ve gotta get some stuff together to advertise this thing OVERNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, I might not get to advertising until after the holidays, but you better believe we’re gonna have to tell EVERYONE to come check it out. It’s like last night Joy Caroline is just Joy Caroline and then BAM! She enters the crazy, unpredictable world of the blogosphere! DUN DUN DUUUNNN!!!!!!!!!! XDDD Also, JUST LOVE THESE VERSES AND YOUR WHOLE BOOK AND JUST EVERY SINGLE THING. Much love to you, girl!!!! <33333 <33333 Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for this new blog.

    1. Hi!! LOL, I’m glad we’re supporting each other’s blogs. I’ve actually been thinking about starting a blog for a long time – ever since I read a Go Teen Writers post about how unpublished authors need to invest time into building a platform for themselves. I thought if I’m really going to get serious about actually getting my book published, I should build a platform. And so many people have awesome blogs, so why not? It could be fun as well as a way to get myself out there and see who’s interested!
Thanks!! I’m planning on doing two more posts this week, so I can start off on the right foot, I guess, and let people know why I’m here. Aww, thanks so much about the advertising! I’m so glad you like the verses and the book. I’m planning on doing Christine Smith’s Know the Novel thing on Wednesday, so you’ll get to know some more about it. XD

    1. Hello! Of course! Thank you so much, and I would LOVE to be friends! I totally agree – Maggie is pretty awesome. In fact, she’s the one who helped me find your blog!

      1. Aahh, I realize my comment wasn’t very clear on what I was saying as I reread everything. And, honestly, my brain’s kind of dying on me, so just forget about that comment. XD

  3. Hellooooooooo, Joy Caroline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE A BLOG NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🎉 (I actually thought that I might be the first person to comment, but it looks like others beat me to it.😁 XD) Anyways, I love all those Bible verses and most of them I have memorized!!!!!!!!!!!! Like you, I can’t pick a favorite – they are all so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep going, girl! I can’t wait till your novel is published!!!!!!!!! Oh, and I was wondering: does Paul’s sister have a name?

    1. Hi! Wow, Katherine is following my blog!! *doing a happy dance
LOL, I’ve gotten way more comments than I thought I would! Yours adds to the fun. Ooh, it’s awesome you’ve memorized all the verses! I think the Bible is meant to be memorized. Aww, thank you so much!!
Yes, she does have a name. The Bible doesn’t tell us what her name was, so I had to give her one. I just searched up “Hebrew girl names” until I found one. I called her Temira.

      1. Awww, that makes me so happy that you’re so happy that I’m following your blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😊😃❤️ You’re doing GREAT considering when I first started blogging I didn’t get comments until like three months later! Yes, I think the Bible is meant to be memorized too!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you! After I had asked you the question, I went and read your “My Novel” page and realized you said the name of the sister. (lol) But that’s a beautiful name though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And after reading more about your story, I am even more in love with it!!!!!!!! ❤ Please publish it asap!!!!!!!!!!!😁

        1. Thanks! I’m so lucky to have Teen Writers Nook in my corner – if it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t have all these comments. You guys are awesome!
LOL! I’m glad you enjoyed the MY NOVEL page. Thank you! It did take me a while to find, because I’m very picky about my MC’s name. Aww, you have too many kind words! I’m working on it. We can all support each other!

      2. Awwww, you are so sweet.❤️ I am so blessed to have met you!!! Thank you!!!! You are awesome too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I loved it!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 I’m the same way – it takes me forever to find the right name for my MC and some of the supporting casts. There have been times where I decided I wanted to right a novel and like a year later I settle on a name (note: don’t wait a year before you make the name official because then when your writing your novel you have to say that character 1 said this and character 2 said that XD). Anyways, Temira is a lovely name! Thank you! You can do it!!!!!!!!!! Oh, yes, we can all support each other!!! Aspiring writer unite!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        1. Same! God really does provide the coolest friends.
LOL! Yeah, that WOULD be just a leetle confusing. Oh my goodness, you are too kind. This comment is making me so happy!

      3. Sorry, I just read the comment where you said you were lucky to have Teen Writers’ Nook in your corner. Just wanted to say that TWN is really the one who’s lucky to have YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t say how much you’ve meant to all of us!!!!!! <33

      4. You are absolutely right! God does provide the coolest friends!!!!!!!
        XD I know right?!
You are so kind to and very inspiring to me. I love how passionate you are about God, His word, and writing your novel for Him!!! I hope that everything I do brings honor and glory to Him and that He will be in the center of it all!!!!

  4. Oh, wow, I love all of these verses! Especially Romans 5:8. “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” It’s really amazing to think that Jesus let his blood run and his breath stop for us. It’s astounding.
I came here from lovely Teen Writers Nook. Maggie mentioned your blog in a comment, I was like: “Blog? Blog! Blog blog blog blog!” Like a dog when their human grabs a weirdly colored, round thing. So I’m here now. Hi! BTW, I LOOOOVE your book idea! I actually never knew that St. Paul had a sister. Then again, I barely knew Simon-Peter had a wife. *shrugs* If you have any snippets, I would love to see them!

    1. Hey Ally! Yes, Romans 5:8 is my personal favorite Bible verse. I feel like it just sums up the whole Bible and God’s love for us. What Jesus did really is incredible. I heard a pastor say once that he was willing to die without hope of resurrection. That really made me stop and think!
Aww, Maggie is pretty awesome. LOL! That’s a funny comparison. Well, I’m SO glad you dropped in!
Thank you so much! It makes me so happy when someone says they would be interested in my book!! Yes, it’s very interesting to know that St. Paul had a sister and St. Peter had a wife. When you think about the apostles, their families aren’t really the first thing that comes to mind.
Snippets are actually coming tomorrow in my next blog post. So glad to hear that! Stay tuned! It’s great to hear from you.
