Hi y’all! I hope everyone is having an awesome Sunday.
Today I decided to make a quick little post sharing a short poem I wrote. It’s called With Her. It’s a romantic poem, with a bittersweet ending. I thought it would be cool to share this with you guys. So without further ado, I present With Her. *dramatically pulling curtains aside, revealing a fancy stage* 😂

With Her
Though thin and pale in her bed
She was beautiful, and smiled in her sleep when I laid roses on her breast.
She delivered me from my land of bitterness
Taught me to love the God she called merciful
Although she was wasting away in pain from the disease
That ate away at her frail frame.
–
I cared for her in her hospital room
And before a month I placed that veil on her head.
She held the roses I’d brought her that night
Her small hand trembled in mine as I anointed her and said:
“With this ring, I thee wed.”
–
Hours later I held her, now my wife, in my arms
As on my treasured piano I played and sang a song I composed
About the Jesus God
She was even then praising
As the cough racked her, and
Her fever raged.
Feeling her hot brow, holding her shivering body to try to warm
I played and sang.
–
As I struck the final note
Her light went out
But even then she was smiling with the song on her lips.
I knew she wouldn’t want me to stop
So I composed late into the night.
I wrote songs of praise to her God, who
Giveth and taketh away
The God who blesses me with music
My ability to play
His gift to me.
So I will continue to play and sing
Rejoicing that because of Christ’s love for his own bride
I will soon be
With her
Again.

So there’s the poem! I really hope you guys enjoyed it. Sunday blessings!
You know the drill – eat, pray, write, repeat!
