And… we’re diving right in!
Yes, I’m still using that dorky salutation.
Stop apologizing for your craziness, Joy.
Fine, I will. 😂
Anyways, today’s post is actually a serious one. I’m sharing another poem of mine. It’s quite a different style from anything I’ve written before. It’s on a topic I’m extremely passionate about, and I really hope you enjoy it.

dear officials of america
Poem
Joy Caroline
dear officials of america, you say
you are here to fight for all of us
you are here to uphold the rights
of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
you call children the future leaders
those who will lead our country
you send them blessings
you promise them you will keep them safe
from school shootings, and bombings, and terrorist attacks
and racism and cruelty.
you say no one should be bullied
no one should be beat up
no one should be afraid to be alive
that every little black girl has the right to grow up to be
president of the united states.
—
all this is excellent and good and praiseworthy
and i commend you for it
so bear with me as i ask you the following:
do you really fight for all human life?
do you really stand for the rights of all?
do you really believe children should be blessed
that they will grow up to become leaders of our country
that they are precious
whether black or white or brown or red?
do you, o fighters for the people,
believe children should not be killed
in school shootings and lynchings
beaten bloody by angry classmates
because they may be a little different
or because of no reason at all?
do you believe children should never cry
believing they should die
being afraid to go on living
because of the dangerous and hateful environment
they’re in?
—
if the answers to all those were yes
bear with me as i ask just a few more
and see if your response remains the same.
are all children precious in your sight?
yes, you say.
all children? i ask.
of course, you say.
and i reply, even the unborn?
and you stumble over your words.
you know you are killing children
you are not protecting their lives, nor their rights.
you say that little girl in the womb
will never grow up to be president of the u.s. if you can help it
because you’ll be rid of her long before.
you say shootings are okay
because you shoot that little boy who did nothing wrong.
just because his mother said she didn’t plan.
these children can be bombed
they can be mutilated
they can be murdered, because that’s what it is
they can be lynched
they can be bullied and beat up
because everything is different, i suppose
when you’re the ones who make the decision
to do so to billions of them.
yes, children should believe they should die
because someone else committed a crime
because they’re unwanted
because they’ll turn out looking different from other children who are called “normal”
they should be afraid to go on living
in their mothers’ wombs
the most dangerous and hateful environment to be in now.
—
what now?
what now of protecting children?
what now of them all being precious?
no, you don’t believe nor do
any of what you say you believe and do
and i, a child who was once in that womb
as you were once in that womb
i’m calling for a change
so this is my plea with you.

Thanks for reading!
My prayer is that more Christians will speak out in defense of the unborn.
You know the drill – eat, pray, write, repeat!

YES!! This poem is so good… I don’t write a lot of things that people could disagree with, but I admire everyone who does. And if there’s one thing I believe, it’s that murder is wrong. They can say it isn’t alive, they can say it is just a fetus or whatever, but how can something unliving grow? It may not have a heart beat but it’s still alive. *sigh* America isn’t safe for everyone, but the Kingdom of God is. I can’t wait for the day it is made manifest for all to see and submit to.
Thank you so much! And oh, I agree so wholeheartedly with everything you just said. Scientists literally define growth as one of the traits of a living thing, so… I wonder how people can rationalize that.
Amen! That’s such a beautiful thought, and a beautiful thing for us to hope for.
Exactly. You know Satan is at work when they twist science and deny it.
Christ is beautiful. ❤️
So true! Amen, Christ is beautiful indeed.
You’re so right!!!! Killing the unborn is murder. I just don’t understand how some people claim it isn’t alive when scientist have clearly said that they can detect a heartbeat as early as five weeks. Yes, the Kingdom of God is our fortress!<333
Amen! I will never understand why people need to have control because for me I will never have control. Now my parents and God, maybe one day a husband. I don’t understand what’s so good to them about the right to kill and change because I see value in every person, no matter what they are (killer, fetus, scientist, trans…) even if I know the better way. I don’t want to understand…
JOY! This was spectacular! I got the chills while reading! Thank you SO much for writing this and standing up for the unborn! Amazing!
Thank you, Grace! This comment means the world to me!
You’re so welcome! You’re such a shining light for Christ, my friend!
Aww! *sniffles* I’m about to cry.
Awesome poem!!! It was so heart touching!!! When I’m older I really want to do a lot of work in spreading the light of Christ, charity and volunteering and things like that. This poem was a great reminder of all the problems we face today, but also one of how much we can work together as a family within Christ to spread the light in a dark world.
Thank you!! This whole comment made me so happy, you should have seen my smile. 💗 I definitely want to do a lot for pro-life advocating. It’s such an important issue, and I’m so glad there are people like you who want to do something about it.
You are so welcome!! Aww thanks, I wish I was there! I agree!! <33
WOOOOW, Joy, this was INCREDIBLE!!!!! I just…I’m speechless! The way you tied everything in to defending the unborn was so eye-opening and amazing!!! Thank you so much for writing this and sharing it with us! I will never forget this poem!!! 🙂 ❤
Aww, thank you, Victoria! This comment made me smile so hard, I’m still smiling. I’m so happy you liked it!

Aww, thank YOU! You’re absolutely welcome!
👏👏👏👏
💗💗💗💗
This poem was incredible and so beautiful!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely LOVE how you worded it!!!!!👏 I’m emotional. I am so proud of you for standing up for the unborn!!!! We need to be the voice of those whose voice was taken away from them. We need to speak out for those who can’t speak for themselves. We can’t remain silent. My heart breaks. May we, Christians, unite and fight for those who couldn’t fight for their lives.
I’ve actually been thinking about doing a post about speaking out for what we believe in. What do you think? Do you think that’s a good idea?
Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your poem with us!!!!!!! It’s was an absolute joy to see your passion come alive in your words!!!!!!
Thank you, Katherine! Thank you so much. Yes, our job is to encourage the weak and lift up the helpless. You couldn’t be more right.
I think that would be an amazing post! It’s definitely something Christians should address. And it’s very true for Christian writers as well – that’s what sets our writing apart from the secular market.
Thank YOU again! You’re the best!
Thank you!!! 🙂 I’ve been thinking about the post idea for awhile now and after reading your poem, I started to think that maybe it’s time to get to work on it.
You’re absolutely right!! For Christians writers, writing about what we are passionate about sets our work apart from the secular market.
Awww! Thank you!!!!!😊💗 You’re the best too!!!!!!<333
Great! I can’t wait to read that post. Also, I am not ignoring you TWN girls, things have been a lil crazy for the past few days. I hope to get over to your new posts as soon as I can!
Love you!
Thank you!!!🙂 No worries, JC. I know you’re not ignoring us. I completely understand what’s it’s like for life to get a little crazy. Things have been crazy for me as well. I hope things will get better for you soon!
Love you too!!!!<3<3<3
Yup, things are a little wacko but it’s all good XD You’re awesome!
Aw, thank you!!!!!! You’re awesome too!!!
YESSS!!!! AMEN, AMEN, AMEN, girl. <33 I LOOOOVED this poem and that you spoke for the unborn! I wish more Christians would do this. It makes me soooo angry when people try to say thing like it's a woman's right to choose. Like who in the world came up with that crazy idea! I just wish we didn't have soo many Christians who are persuaded by the world. It really makes me sad to how blinded people have become. But anyways, I'm gonna stop before I go on some long rant. I LOVED THIS POEM!! And I'm soo proud of you, 'cause I know it would've taken a lotta courage to post this!!!!! Love you, girl!!!! Keep up the AWESOME work!!!!!!!!! <333
Thanks, I really appreciate this comment!! I completely agree – since when did killing another human being become a choice? *rolls eyes* Which is a big reason I’m against feminism, but that could be a whole ‘nother post.
SO TRUE. So many people in the world who claim to be Christians but support works of darkness like abortion. Thank you so much for reading and commenting! Love you too!
